When Eve is framed for a murder she didn’t commit, Xai (that flame) is drawn back into her life.Xai is a bad boy with a penchant for pain. He loves to dole it out and covers his emotions by inflicting it to those he feels deserves it most. When his Demon Lord’s daughter comes up as a pile of ash and Eve’s dagger is left as the murder weapon he knows something isn’t right. She is retired, after all. But how can he prove that to his grieving boss. Yes, even the demons can love and feel emotions.Forced to work together to prove Eve’s innocence, can she get over the pain, let down, and the past to save her future? Or will Xai prove to her once again that he’s only out for number one and let her fall yet again? Is their attraction enough to overcome the past and the painful memories to save Eve’s life? What other mysteries will be uncovered and solved as the story progresses?As I mentioned at the start, I truly fell for these characters. I laughed, I cried, and I raged on their behalf as I read this story. It drew me in, chewed me up, and spit me out wanting more. The characters come alive and tell their story beautifully. Sometimes a little pain just might be worth it to find the happily ever after you never thought you would or could have.

This book is packed full of adventure, mystery, intrigue and sexy as hell characters that kept me hooked from page one.When it comes to paranormal books, I have expressed this before, it’s important to make them believable and relatable. Although some of the aspects are “out of this worldâ€, this book still creates a connection with the reader. I wanted to know more about Eve and Xai. I also wanted to know more about the secondary characters such as Gwen, Tax…etc. I was CRAVING for more. THIS is a good book in my eyes!This book will take you for a ride. It’s more than just a romance full of steamy chemistry. It has twists and turns that drives the story/adventure forward. I was captivated and couldn’t put it down. I had to know how Eve was going to handle everything. I had to know what she was thinking. AND I had to know if she would survive. (Better read to find out!) Her feisty and determined personality made me love her even more. I LOVE strong, sassy and independent women as main characters. Add in Xai who is arrogant, mysterious and daaaaaamn….yummy. These two together were FIRE. I was laughing out loud and grinning ALOT while reading this book.Lately I have been shying away from paranormal romances and Lexi Foss reignited my love for them again – THANK YOU Lexi!Check out this book and the others by Lexi Foss.
What can I say? I loved this book, no I floved this book. Daughter of Death brought back the urban fantasy genre for me! So many books claim to be UF, but are just washed out versions of it. Daughter of Death has everything my fantasy and paranormal little heart craves. Paranormal beings, kickbutt characters, exploding love, action, and mystery.Eve is who I want to be when I grow up. She's a fierce warrior but with love and humanity flowing through her. Xai is everything I hate. A warrior, a arrogant jerk. Yet I fell so far in love with him. Lexi C. Foss weaves a tale with intriguing characters, hilarious banter, and some awesome action. The way she makes you simultaneously hate and love Xai, as Eve does, is so frustratingly perfect. One second I'm on the wagon of hate, the next he has me swooning.This book obviously blew me away and made me hope that UF is making a comeback. This book was so captivating that I couldn't set it down for even a second. The love between Eve and Xai is a confusingly beautiful love. One that makes you wonder why Eve puts up with him while also wondering where you can find a Xai of your own. I'm excited to read more of Lexi C. Foss and have my fingers crossed that I'll see more of Eve and Xai!

This is one hell of a roller coaster as Eve and Xai jump through hoops that lead down dangerous and deadly paths to prove her innocence in the murder of a Demon Lord’s daughter. She’s retired and doesn’t work sloppily, can her heart survive being thrust back into Xai’s life and he into hers? Will he let her fall again? Oh, this story was fun and engaging as I learned more and more of their tale, I found I wanted more and more of it….enter the world of Dark Provenance and meet Xai and Eve from the Bad Girls multi-author year-long event!
What happens when two angels in love fall? Why, make do of course!She becomes a bada$$ assassin to save humanity, and he serves a demon lord to do the same...all so destiny and fate can be served. That's way too much responsibility, but hey, they're immortal, what else do they have but time?!Xai falls to fulfill his purpose, Eve follows, because hey, love makes you do crazy things, right?! But needless to say things don't go as planned and Xai does everything in his power to push her away, all in the name of protecting his mate. Centuries of hurt and regret, but they must overcome and work together because there is a shift, and bad things are coming.I'm sad I waited so long to dive into this series, don't make the same mistake I did...really, I highly recommend you don't miss this one!
