I think this national counselor examination study guide is crucial and a very important part to anyone’s preparation. Before using the study guide I was scoring 75% on my practice exams and after going through the sections of this book and taking the practice exams my score bumped up to 92% and 94%. The study guide is brief, to the point and concise which is just what I needed preparing for this big exam.
Great resource for studying for a counseling exam. I can't recommend it enough. Good stuff. It is very useful for a quick review, too, but covers a whole range of topics for the exam and puts your thoughts in order. I am not easily impressed with books, and I know there are many different textbooks/study guides out there, but this one was very good. I highly recommend it.
I thought that this review was very comprehensive and definitively helped me to raise my score on the exam. Before buying this book I only got about 50% of the practice test questions correct, after using this book I got about 91% of the questions on the actual test correct. I found that its review of the material was well-grounded in what was actually covered by the exam. It also provided objectively better answer explanations in the practice test questions than competitors did, further helping me to understand, holistically, the things that I did not remember, not just the things I already knew. 10 out of 10 would recommend and use again.
Great study guide! I specifically appreciated the condensed information for each section and the answer explanations for all sample test questions.
I like that the sections were broken down, information was easy to grasp and test are great. I was able to retain n the info after reading and did well on tests in book after reading the section once
- random change of font halfway through a paragraph seen at least once, looks like they just copied and pasted- no author listed, makes me doubt it was even written by counselors- mistakes- I don’t feel this book is trustworthy in providing the right info for the exam since it appears so unprofessional- way overpriced for something that could have been put together by a high schooler- either buy a different book or stick with rosenthal - lots of ppl have success with his resources
This was great for supplementary review and the practice questions. I coupled it with a test prep program on audio CD's and aced the test! I don't think it would have been enough by itself, though.
Thank you I passed my exam with flying colors. This book was well worth the cost.
