Half of the pull out map was missing. Hopefully the replacement will include the complete map. I went to check out the location of the hotel we booked and realized it wasn't on the map because only headings A-J were there.
The guide is small and compact, fit in a pocket. Has enough information to start Boston exploration, but due size restriction several of the interesting places are not covered at all. For example, you won't find information about Brookline (an independent town surrounded by Boston City), neither Allston (refuge or medium budget, hipster colony) or Jamaica Plaine. Some beautiful parks are not included. So, it's good to start and if you have your headquarter close to downtown.
I bought this guide for a 5-day visit to Boston. It does indeed fit in your pocket and I found the fold-out map of Boston, Cambridge and Harvard Square to be helpful. This guide is organized logically, by neighborhood, and has the kind of useful recommendations on attractions, eating places, etc. that I have come to rely upon Lonely Planet books for. I didn't get to all the sights in the City, but I did see a lot in my time there. I credit this guide book for helping me plan a very enjoyable Boston vacation.
My daughter and I are planning a trip in June for her birthday so we wanted to know all the great places to visit
This travel guide really helped me make the most of my weekend trip to Boston. It's small size made it an easy fit in my coat pocket and I really liked that each neighborhood only had a few recommendations for things to do and places to eat which made picking one simple. If you're going for more than a few days you may prefer a larger more comprehensive guidebook.
